Farm House Banana Bread Preheat oven at 350 degrees. Combine these and set aside. 1 3/4 cup flour 1/1/4 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp baking soda 3/4 tsp salt
Beat 2/3 cup sugar, 1/3 cup shortening till light. Add 2 eggs, one at a time. Add 2 Tbsp milk. Add the flour mixture and 1 cup mashed, ripe banana to the creamed mixture. Beat until smooth on each addition. Fold in 1/4 cup nuts (optional). Turn batter into a lightly greased 8x4x2 loaf pan. Sprinkle the top with a tiny smackering well water (this is her magic secret I swear to God). Bake at 350 for 60-65 minutes or until a toothpick in the center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Remove and cool some more. Best is eaten with a little butter smeared on it.
